Everything below is fabricated in our Greenacre workshop and installed by the crew that made it. When the same team measures the job and fits it, nothing gets lost between a supplier and an installer.

Frameless and semi-frameless glass on stainless spigots or a continuous channel base. Toughened and laminated to AS 1288, with the interlink and top-rail options certifiers ask for on balconies and stairs.

Round or flat stainless, mild steel or timber-topped handrails for homes, strata blocks and commercial stairs. Wall-mounted or balustrade-fixed, with the continuity and grip clearance the code requires on egress paths.

Steel stringers, floating treads and complete stair structures built to the architect's drawings. We fabricate the stair and its balustrade together, so the geometry lines up on site instead of being fought into place.

Balustrade questions, answered.

The things people ask us most before a quote. Every job is different, so treat these as a guide, not a ruling on your specific build.

How high does a balustrade have to be?

Under the National Construction Code, a barrier is generally required wherever there is a drop of more than one metre, and it usually needs to be at least one metre high above the floor, deck or stair nosing. Stairs can allow a lower rail in some cases. We confirm the exact height for your situation when we measure.

Do the gaps between balusters matter?

Yes. On a barrier protecting a fall, openings generally cannot let a 125mm sphere pass through, and where the drop is more than four metres the design has to avoid horizontal elements a child could climb between roughly 150mm and 760mm. We build to these rules so the job passes certification the first time.

Should I go with glass or steel?

Glass keeps a view open and suits balconies, pools and stairs where you do not want to block the outlook. Steel is tougher, cheaper per metre, and gives you matte black or a raw industrial look. Plenty of jobs mix the two: a steel frame or handrail with glass infill. Tell us the space and we will suggest what fits.

What kind of glass do you use?

Grade A safety glass to AS 1288, either toughened or laminated depending on where it sits and whether it needs to stay in place if it breaks. Balustrade glass is not the same as a shower screen, and we spec it for the load and the location.

How long does a job take?

Most residential jobs run one to three weeks from approved quote to installed, depending on the finish and how busy the powder coater or galvaniser is. We book the install date up front so you are not left guessing. Larger or fully custom work takes longer, and we tell you that before you commit.

Do you handle compliance and certification?

We build to AS 1170 for loads, the NCC for barrier heights and openings, and AS 1288 for glazing, and we hand over the documentation a certifier or strata report will ask for. If you are not sure what your job needs, send us the plans and we will walk you through it.
