Glass balustrades · Sydney

Glass balustrades in Sydney.

A frameless glass balustrade keeps the view and the light while it keeps people safe. We fabricate and install glass balustrades across Sydney for balconies, staircases, decks and pool surrounds, toughened and laminated to AS 1288 and fixed to hold the loads the code demands.

Options we build.

  • Frameless (spigot-fixed)
  • Semi-frameless
  • Channel-set
  • Stair panels
  • Pool surrounds
  • Interlinked / top-rail

Frameless, semi-frameless, or channel-set

Frameless glass sits on discreet stainless spigots and reads as almost nothing, which is why it is the choice for a harbour balcony or a feature stair. Semi-frameless uses slim posts for a lower cost and a more forgiving install. A continuous base channel gives the cleanest sightline of all. We will tell you which suits your outlook, your budget and your fixings.

Glass that meets AS 1288

Balustrade glass is Grade A safety glass, toughened or laminated depending on where it sits and whether it has to stay in place if it breaks. A frameless panel with no top rail usually needs to be laminated so a cracked panel holds together. It is not the same product as a shower screen, and we specify the grade and thickness for the load and the location.

Fixings and finish

The hardware is where a glass job lasts or fails. We use quality stainless spigots and fixings, marine grade where the salt air demands it, and we detail the fixing to the substrate you actually have, whether that is concrete, steel or timber. Hardware can be satin, mirror or black to match the rest of the build.

Common questions

How much does a glass balustrade cost in Sydney?
It depends on whether it is frameless or semi-frameless, the glass spec, the fixing method and the access. Rather than quote a per-metre figure that is usually wrong, we measure on site and give you a fixed price. Send us the plans or a few photos for an accurate quote.
Is frameless or semi-frameless glass better?
Frameless gives the cleanest, most open look and costs more. Semi-frameless uses slim posts, costs less and is a more forgiving install. Both are compliant when built properly. It comes down to your budget and how much you want the glass to disappear.
Does glass balustrade glass need to be a special type?
Yes. It is Grade A safety glass to AS 1288, toughened or laminated depending on the situation. Frameless panels without a top rail are usually laminated so they stay in place if broken.
